Public announcement on the language assessment for pre-school children

In accordance with Section 4 (1) of the Ordinance on the Implementation of Language Assessment and Compensatory Language Support (SfFV), the following is published:
In accordance with Section 37 (1) of the Brandenburg School Act in conjunction with Section 3 (1) of the Brandenburg Nursery Act, children who are to be registered for Year 1 of primary school for the 2016/2017 school year and whose home or usual place of residence is in the state of Brandenburg by 31 October 2015 are obliged to take part in the language assessment procedure. This takes place in the year before school enrolment.

If a need for language support has been identified, there is an obligation to take part in a language support course at a daycare centre. After successful participation, parents receive confirmation from the daycare centre that the child has participated in the language assessment, which must be presented when registering at the relevant primary school (§ 4 Para. 1 of the Primary School Ordinance). The procedure takes place in the day care centre where the child is being looked after. The assessment takes place in the day care centres listed below. Parents whose child does not attend a daycare centre must register at one of the following daycare centres by 31 October 2015 at the latest:
