Mountain festival

The mining festival in the middle of the year is a tradition in the mining regions. It was and still is the social highlight of the year for the miners, with church services and concerts by mining bands. The mining community of Rüdersdorf near Berlin has revived this mining custom since reunification and has celebrated the Bergfest on the first weekend in July ever since.

Review 2025

On Friday, 4 July 2025 , the traditional evening took place in front of more than 400 people, including an atmospheric procession of miners with lights and a taps strike by the mountain band. To set the mood, the hunting horn players from Strausberg played on the Rumfordofen.

On Saturday, 5 July 2025, visitors to the museum park were treated to a colourful programme with free admission, including tunnel tours by the mining association, live blasting of the Heinitz shaft and a family festival with a hands-on rally with stalls and entertainment by local clubs. In the afternoon, the mining association marched into the museum park together with the mining band and the shooting club. After the gun salute, the chairman of the mining association, Bernd Pabel, was honoured for his many years of commitment. The traditional concert by the Rüdersdorf mountain band in the marquee concluded the day's programme. This was followed by the summer open-air cinema with the cult film Dirty Dancing from 21:30. At the same time, the disco organised by the Rüdersdorf local fire brigade's support association continued into the night in the marquee.

Am Sonntag, den 6. Juli 2025 fand das Bergfest mit dem traditionellen Berggottesdienst in der Kalkberger Kirche seinen Abschluss.

We welcomed a total of 3,500 guests on Saturday (2,500 during the day and 1,000 for the disco and cinema).
