    Eligibility criteria for the ‘
    ’ scheme: You have moved into a new flat that you occupy alone, or your main residence, in Brandenburg.

    • When moving into a new flat, anyone required to register must do so
    • Deadline: 2 weeks

    • Documents: Identity card or passport as proof of identity and to update your address details

    Anyone moving into a flat must register or re-register with the relevant registration authority within two weeks of moving in. In this case, you do not need to deregister with your previous registration authority.

  • Required documents

    • An identity card or passport as proof of identity and for updating your residential details
    • Landlord’s confirmation

    In the case of a joint registration for family members, it is sufficient for one of the persons required to register to appear in person at the registration office. Please bring the following with you:

    • Personnel documents for all those concerned
    • Power of attorney(s) in the case of joint registration

    o the unmarried partner’s

    o by children of legal age

  • Procedure

    You must register with the relevant registration office within two weeks of moving in. Your registration will normally be processed immediately upon presentation of the required documents.

  • Processing time

    Applications are usually processed immediately upon submission of the required documents.

  • Deadlines

    You must register within two weeks of moving into the flat.

  • Notes (special features)

    If you do not register within two weeks of moving in, this may be treated as an administrative offence and result in a fine.

    Please ensure you fulfil your obligation to register in order to avoid unnecessary problems and hassle. If you fail to fulfil your obligation to register, or do not do so in good time, this may lead to problems, for example, with vehicle registration, obtaining a driving licence or applying for a certificate of good conduct. In addition, your identity card and, where applicable, your vehicle registration certificate will need to be updated.
