Due to delays on the part of the construction company, the full closure of Karl-Liebknecht-Straße must be extended by a further week until 22 April 2022.
In this regard, the company has issued the following statement:
"Dear residents,
Technical delays have arisen during this crucial phase of the asphalt laying works. The road will remain completely closed until 22 April 2022.
We ask for your understanding and patience.
We would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Asphalt laying will commence on Tuesday, 19 April 2022.
Please be aware of the changing traffic diversions between 19 April 2022 and 21 April 2022. During this period, we ask that you only use the signposted diversions in cases of absolute necessity, as the traffic arrangements will change several times a day over these three days. One junction (Fürstenwalder Straße or Hans-Schroer-Straße) will always remain open to traffic. However, there may be short delays.
On 22 April 2022, the joints in the tarmac will be cut and filled. Following 22 April 2022, there will still be traffic restrictions across the entire construction site whilst the remaining work is carried out.
A bituminous bonding agent will be applied in order to carry out the asphalt works. Should you fail to observe the full road closure, we accept no liability for damage to or soiling of your vehicles, or for injury to persons or damage to property.

From 7 April 2022: Closure of Karl-Liebknecht-Straße for the laying of the final surface course
The construction work on Karl-Liebknecht-Straße is now in its final phase. Among other things, the final asphalt works are being carried out on this section of Karl-Liebknecht-Straße. The laying of the asphalt surface can only take place whilst the road is completely closed. To this end, road closures are expected to take place from 7 April 2022 . The asphalting of the road will take place in three construction phases, each following on directly from the previous one.
Construction phase 1: 7 April 2022 – 11 April 2022
Construction phase 2: 11 April 2022 – 12 April 2022
Construction phase 3: 12 April 2022 – 14 April 2022
During the first phase of construction, residents of Altenaer Straße heading towards Woltersdorfer Straße can use Karl-Liebknecht-Straße. Residents of Hans-Schröer-Straße and Friedenstraße can use Fürstenwalder Straße.
During the second phase of construction, residents of Fürstenwalder Straße, Friedenstraße, Hans-Schröer-Straße and Altenaer Straße will need to travel via Karl-Liebknechtstraße from Potsdamer Platz.
During the third phase of construction, residents of Fürstenwalder Straße, Friedenstraße, Hans-Schröer-Straße and Altenaer Straße will have to be diverted via Fürstenwalder Straße.
Residents of Schloßweg will have to use the footpath from 7 April 2022 to 14 April 2022.
Unfortunately, these full road closures are unavoidable, as a traffic-free area is required for the asphalt to be laid. The closures ensure that the asphalt can be laid safely and quickly.
Please refer to the sketches in the appendix for the exact route.

Residents will be informed once again about the building works via a leaflet sent out by post in the coming days.
