To mark the 100th International Women's Day in March 2011, the state government of Brandenburg is to adopt an equality policy framework programme.
To this end, the Equal Opportunities Officer of the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin, Ms Marlene Kersten, took part in a specialist forum with Social Affairs Minister Günter Baaske in Potsdam last week. The forum focussed on actively shaping gender equality in Brandenburg. In preparation for this, numerous regional conferences were held, the results and findings of which will be incorporated into the framework programme.
Even though a draft of the framework programme has not yet been presented for inspection - much to the disappointment of the equal opportunities officers who attended - the project is another milestone for equal opportunities policy in the state of Brandenburg.
