New Corona Ordinance comes into force today - few restrictions, distancing and hygiene rules still apply

As of today, Monday, the previous containment order is being replaced by a social interaction order (SARS-CoV-2-UmgV). This marks a paradigm shift in how we deal with the coronavirus, as many activities are permitted again, with only a few restrictions remaining.
It is important to note that social distancing and hygiene rules must continue to be observed, as must the requirement to wear masks on public transport and in retail outlets.

Under the new social distancing regulations, almost all social and community activities are once again permitted. Only clubs, nightclubs and similar venues must remain closed to the public for infection control reasons. The same applies to brothels, swingers’ clubs and similar establishments. Steam saunas, steam baths and similar establishments also remain closed due to the higher risk of infection.

Events with more than 1,000 people in attendance at any one time remain prohibited under the Regulation on the Prohibition of Large-Scale Events until 31 August 2020 inclusive.

Explanations of all the changes can be found in the state government’s press release and in the regulation itself.
