Almost unbearably hot temperatures all day long and yet the residents and visitors did not miss this year's Lichtenow village festival with the motto "105th anniversary of the founding of the Lichtenow fire brigade" at the old fire station.
The festival was intended to recall the Lichtenow fire brigade, which unfortunately did not survive the years of reunification and many a turbulent period. At the same time, however, it was also intended to publicise the work of the fire brigade and arouse the interest of young people. The fire brigades from Herzfelde presented themselves with a rescue of people trapped in a car, Hennickendorf with a fire-fighting attack and the use of the TLF, and Rüdersdorf with the Bronto-Skylift. The local fire brigade from Kagel also took part, presenting their historic water sprayer alongside their modern emergency vehicle. From performances by the United Dancing Angels Altlandsberg, a fight and fire show and concluding fireworks, visitors were treated to an entertaining and varied programme. Ms Antje Kircheis, Chairwoman of the Seniors' Advisory Council, presented Mr Wolfgang Albrecht with a bouquet of flowers for his commitment to the district of Lichtenow.
Among those present were Udo Schlange, Volker Beitke, Peter Gesche, Eckard Pankow, Bernd Grothe, Günter Wirkus, Gerhard Werk, Roland Schrot, Olaf Schrot, Martin Maasch and Horst Kieselauskas.
The festival organisers would like to thank all the volunteers who baked the cakes, the numerous helpers and Sparkasse MOL, who sponsored the bouncy castle, for their support.
