At its meeting on 22 June 2020, the Rüdersdorf bei Berlin Municipal Council took a decision in principle that the Martin Andersen Nexö Cultural Centre is to be renovated in accordance with heritage conservation and fire safety regulations, with the aid of grant funding. In addition, energy efficiency and technical refurbishment work is to be carried out so that the building is equipped with state-of-the-art event and conference technology in future. The local council also instructed the mayor to present various operating models for the cultural centre at the next regular meeting of the local council on 27 August 2020. A proposal to sell the building was rejected by a large majority.
