The region in the districts of Oder-Spree and Märkisch-Oderland, with its abundance of lakes and forests, offers plenty of opportunities for day trips for young and old alike. For example, along the 66-Lakes Hiking Trail from Hennickendorf via Rüdersdorf to Woltersdorf, there are three interesting towers that are well worth climbing. These include the Wachtelturm on the Wachtelberg in Hennickendorf, the bell tower in the Rüdersdorf Museum Park, and the observation tower on the Kranichsberg in Woltersdorf. All hikers who have climbed these three towers within a calendar year will be awarded a personalised “Tower Certificate”, which is presented at the ticket office of each tower. The order in which the towers are visited does not matter. There are various ways to reach the towers. Whether by car, bicycle, on foot, or even by steamboat or canoe, you can make your way to the towers.
The starting signal for this “Tower Hike” was given at 3 pm on 14 June 2014 at the Wachtelbergfest on Wachtelberg in Hennickendorf. On this day, participants could already collect the first confirmation stamp, and the other two towers can then be conquered the following Sunday or on another fine weekend, together with friends or family.
On the initiative of the Hennickendorf Local History Society, in cooperation with Rüdersdorfer Kultur GmbH, the Woltersdorf Beautification Society and the Rüdersdorf local authority, an information leaflet has been produced, which is available free of charge at the respective towers and at Rüdersdorf Town Hall.
We hope that lots of walkers will set out to earn theTower Diploma.
