Press release 101/2020 of the district of Märkisch-Oderland
Coronavirus: Case numbers in the district of Märkisch-Oderland
are rising sharply The number of people infected with Covid-19 in the district of Märkisch-Oderland continues to rise. Every day, the public health officer has to revise the laboratory-confirmed cases upwards.
Mr Friedemann Hanke, 1st Deputy Mayor: "It is foreseeable that we will reach the first incidence threshold of 35 new cases in the last 7 days. As of today, 22 October 2020 (7:00 a.m.), the number of people currently infected with Covid-19 is 66. That is an increase of 23 people compared to the previous day."
In addition to the rising number of infections, there has also been another death in connection with the coronavirus. This means that the pandemic has claimed a total of 7 lives in the district of Märkisch-Oderland.
As in many other districts, no clear hotspot can be identified in Märkisch-Oderland that is causing the increase in the number of infections.
"There is no doubt that we are concerned about the increase in the number of infections in Märkisch-Oderland," explains Deputy District Administrator Friedemann Hanke. "Tracing the chains of infection has so far often shown that the newly infected people have been infected by their family members. This fact shows once again how important it is to comply with hygiene measures, even in the private sphere."
If the 7-day incidence value/100,000 inhabitants is reached in Märkisch-
Oderland, further restrictions will apply throughout the district, such as the ban on serving
alcoholic beverages in restaurants between 11 pm and 6 am. The district administration will continue to provide regular updates on current developments in the coronavirus situation.
