Mountain parade on the occasion of the flag inauguration

On Saturday, 2 October 2010, the flag of the Brandenburg-Berlin regional association of miners', smelters' and miners' clubs, which had previously been consecrated in the Kulturhaus, was presented to the public. Afterwards, the miners marched in a ceremonial parade from the cultural centre via the town hall to the museum park.

Almost 500 miners from 46 traditional clubs and mountain bands came together from several federal states to give the parade that special glamour, which not only impressed the newlyweds at the town hall. Many guests and spectators were thrilled as the miners marched past in their uniforms and traditional costumes.

This ceremony, which was held under the patronage of Minister President Matthias Platzeck, was described by Mayor André Schaller as a great honour for the municipality after the final presentation of the flag at the Rumford furnaces. Furthermore, according to Mayor Schaller, this parade represented the crowning glory of Rüdersdorf's 775th anniversary celebrations and the "living form of unity" demonstrated by the miners who had travelled from all over Germany.

Afterwards, the day slowly drew to a close with mountain music and mountain beer as well as another "Steigerlied" and many cheers of "Glück auf!".
