CITY CYCLING – Who will win the town’s challenge cup?

From 7 to 27 June 2026, the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin will once again be taking part in the nationwide City Cycling campaign. The aim is to cover as many everyday journeys as possible by bike in a climate-friendly way over a 21-day period, thereby sending a joint message in support of sustainable mobility, health and climate protection.

The competition for the Rüdersdorf (near Berlin) Challenge Cup promises to be particularly exciting again this year. The team from Heinitz Gymnasium in Rüdersdorf has already won the coveted trophy in the past two years, impressively demonstrating their cycling prowess. Now it is up to clubs, companies, schools, families, groups of friends and committed individuals to challenge the defending champions.

Anyone who lives, works, goes to school or belongs to a local club in one of the municipality’s four districts can take part. It doesn’t matter whether you cycle every day or have only used your bike occasionally up to now. Every kilometre counts – especially if it replaces a car journey.

As well as the local competition, Rüdersdorf is also focusing on the Märkisch-Oderland district competition. The aim here is to take on the defending champions, the town of Strausberg, and, if possible, bring the district cup back to Rüdersdorf near Berlin.

How to take part

Registration takes place via the website www.stadtradeln.de/ruedersdorf. There, anyone interested can set up their own team or join an existing one, such as the “Open Team – Rüdersdorf”. The kilometres cycled will be recorded online during the campaign period.

Alternatively, you can use the free STADTRADELN app for Android and Apple devices. It allows you to easily record your rides via GPS and have them automatically added to your personal mileage total.

Anyone without internet access can contact Ms Crowley by telephone on 033638 85316. In this case, the local authority will provide a mileage log.

The municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin is calling on all residents to get cycling together and clock up as many kilometres as possible for the sake of climate protection. Whether it’s for your own health, your wallet or the challenge cup – every kilometre counts.
