Who can vote?

All citizens who are at least 16 years old on election day and have their main residence in the municipality of Rüdersdorf bei Berlin or have lived there for at least three months are eligible to vote.

How do you vote?

Voting takes place by ballot paper in the polling stations or by postal vote on request. If no candidate achieves an absolute majority (over 50 %) or fulfils the quorum, a run-off election is held between the top two candidates.

Quorum:

In addition to the majority of votes cast (50 %), at least 15 % of the votes of all eligible voters must be cast in favour of one person, only then is the election valid.

Example: with 10,000 eligible voters, the winner of the election would have to receive at least 1,500 of all votes cast in addition to the majority (50 % of the votes cast).
