The meeting point is in front of the former department stores' at Hauptstraße 13. As part of the event, the stumbling stones at all three Herzfeld locations will be cleaned. At the same time, the Herzfeld local history association will recite the stories of the people who lived in these places. With this action, the municipality not only wants to maintain the memorial stones, but above all to recall the memory of the victims of National Socialism and the events of the Reichspogromnacht on 9 November 1938.
The cleaning materials will be provided by the municipality. All interested citizens are cordially invited to take part in the campaign and together send a visible signal against forgetting and in favour of respectful coexistence.
Background:
Stolpersteine are small memorial stones with brass plates that were laid in front of the last freely chosen homes of people who were persecuted, deported or murdered by the Nazi regime. With their gleam in the pavement, they keep the memory of former neighbours alive and make history visible in everyday life.
