Waste disposal

Do not support illegal waste collection!

Press release LK MOL 34/2025

Flyers advertising collections of various household items are currently appearing in letterboxes across the region once again. These announce that used electrical and electronic items, as well as non-ferrous metals, old clothes and kitchenware, will be collected as part of a street collection. The leaflets contain no information whatsoever regarding who is responsible for these collections.

These collections are illegal. Their sole purpose is to obtain profitable and suitable recyclable materials. Less valuable items are usually left by the roadside or are later found dumped illegally in the woods.

The Märkisch-Oderland Waste Management Authority is therefore urgently appealing to all residents not to support these illegal collectors. Instead, all residents of the district can have both their bulky waste and their old electrical appliances, as well as scrap metal, collected free of charge and across the board directly from outside their own property as part of the household waste collection service. Furthermore, under the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Act (ElektroG), it is also possible to return end-of-life electrical appliances free of charge to specialist retailers and, in the case of small electrical appliances, even to all major supermarkets that regularly stock electrical goods. Clothes in good condition should, as usual, be disposed of in the collection bins provided by commercial or charitable collectors, which are located throughout the district.

In addition, well-preserved furniture, household items and electronic devices can be donated to other residents of the district at the district’s giveaway market (www.verschenkemarkt-mol.de) for them to use.

If you have any questions about the recycling and disposal of waste, the waste advisory service at the Märkisch-Oderland Waste Management Authority will be happy to help on 03341 354-7013/-7014 or by email at abfallberatung@landkreismol.de. You can also find disposal instructions for almost all types of household waste in the MOL Waste App. Further information on this topic can also be found on the waste advisory service’s website at www.abfallberatung-mol.de.
