Public information session on the ‘Herzfelder Straße’ housing development project

The 2010 land-use plan for the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin provides for the expansion of residential areas on the as yet undeveloped land situated between Hemmoor-Ring and Herzfelder Straße in Rüdersdorf. For several years now, a private developer has been pursuing plans to build a residential estate there comprising around 50 flats in semi-detached and terraced houses.

The local council initially decided to draw up a local development plan for this purpose. In autumn 2025, the preliminary draft of this local development plan No. 49, ‘Herzfelder Straße Residential Area’, was put forward for early consultation with the public and the relevant authorities.

Since the end of 2025, the federal legislature has made it possible to fast-track housing construction projects through the so-called ‘Bauturbo’. Under certain conditions, these projects can be carried out without the need to draw up a local development plan. The municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin wishes to make use of this option for the first time.

We would like to update you on the current status of the plans for the residential development, the results of the early public consultation on the development plan, and the next steps in the process leading up to the approval and implementation of the residential development.
