Mountain festival
The mining festival in the middle of the year is a tradition in the mining regions. It was and still is the social highlight of the year for the miners, with church services and concerts by mining bands. The mining community of Rüdersdorf near Berlin has revived this mining custom since reunification and has celebrated the Bergfest on the first weekend in July ever since.
On Friday, 4 July 2025, the traditional evening will take place, including the atmospheric miners' procession with the miners' band lighting up and taps.
On Saturday, 5 July 2025, a colourful programme awaits you with guided tours of the tunnel by the mining association, live blasting at the Wasserwirtschaft (opposite the shaft furnace battery), as well as a family festival with a hands-on rally with stalls and entertainment by local clubs.
In the afternoon, the mining association marches into the museum park together with the mining band and the shooting club. After the gun salute, you can listen to the concert by the Rüdersdorf mining band on the festival meadow. Afterwards, the park invites you to relax and enjoy a picnic before the evening draws to a close at 9.30 pm with the summer open-air cinema. Those who prefer to socialise can enjoy music from the DJ and dance the night away in the marquee at the disco organised by the Rüdersdorf local fire brigade support association.
On Sunday, 6 July 2025, the mountain festival will conclude with the traditional mountain service in the Kalkberg church.
