- Electronic proof of identity: update due to a change of address
- The electronic identity verification feature is the online identification function of the national identity card, the electronic residence permit or the eID card for EU citizens
- If there is a change of address, the address stored on the chip in the document (identity card, electronic residence permit, eID card for EU citizens) must be updated
- Any change of address must be notified immediately
- Proof of registration must be provided as evidence of your new address
- Online service (provided that an online registration of residence is available at your new place of residence) or the relevant authority:
- ID card/eID card for EU citizens: Citizens’ Advice Bureau at your new place of residence
- Electronic residence permit: the relevant immigration office at your new place of residence

The electronic identity verification feature is the online identification function of your identity card, your electronic residence permit or the eID card for EU citizens, which you can use, for example, to carry out digital administrative procedures or to verify your identity when using online services.
If your address changes, you must have the address updated on these documents.
You can apply to have your address updated on the chip of your identity card or your eID card for EU citizens either online (provided the local authority at your new place of residence offers electronic registration of residence) or in person at the Citizens’ Office in your new place of residence. You can have the address on the chip of your electronic residence permit updated in person at the Foreigners’ Registration Office at your new place of residence.
You must present your registration confirmation as proof of your new address.Legal basis(s)

You can apply to change the address on your electronic identity document (national ID card or eID card for EU citizens) online (provided that the local authority at your new place of residence offers an online registration service) or in person at the Citizens’ Advice Bureau in your new place of residence.
You can apply to change the address on the chip of your electronic residence permit in person at the relevant immigration office at your new place of residence.- When attending an appointment with the authorities, please present your valid identity card, electronic residence permit or eID card (for EU citizens), as well as your registration confirmation.
- Your local authority will store your new address on the chip in your identity card, on your electronic residence permit or on the eID card for EU citizens.
