Press release 2023/30 of the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin
Rüdersdorf near Berlin is one of the 35 newly selected municipalities in the new Youth Decisions Academy organised by the non-profit Hertie Foundation. Here, representatives of local authorities from all over Germany learn about different methods of involving young people in local political decisions. The academy consists of three elements: A kick-off conference, one year of support in practice and advisory and networking services.
By participating, the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin aims to develop a suitable long-term participation format adapted to local conditions and young people or to implement a one-off participation project, which can serve as a model for other projects. The participation of children and young people, which is now anchored in the main statutes, will thus be filled with life. Various formats have already been tried out in the past, but none have been able to establish themselves in the long term. Young people in the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin should be encouraged to participate and have a say. At the same time, the aim is to give them the experience of being taken seriously and valued, and to really make a difference.
