Following the agreement between the Federal Chancellor and the heads of state governments, the Brandenburg state government extended and amended the SARS-CoV-2 Containment Ordinance at its meeting today. The obligation to wear masks will be extended and contact restrictions will be tightened further. The amended ordinance will enter into force on 1 December 2020.
The most important innovations include the following points:
- The obligation to wear a face covering has been extended: As a general rule, face masks must now be worn in all publicly accessible areas and places frequented by the public. For example, in banks, post offices, public authorities and hospitals. This also applies in open-air locations where many people are either in a confined space or are not just passing through, for example at weekly markets and in pedestrianised areas.
- Employees and visitors must also wear a face mask in all workplaces and operating sites as well as in office and administrative buildings if the minimum distance cannot be safely maintained.
- The urgent appeal is to avoid all unnecessary contacts as well as private, tourist and business trips,
- Meetings only with one other household and a maximum of 5 people (children up to the age of 14 are excluded).
- The same rule applies to spending time together outdoors.
The new containment regulation is valid until 21 December 2020.
Christmas 2020
For reasons of planning security for citizens, the state government has already agreed on the following implementation today, insofar as this is possible given the current situation: In Brandenburg, a maximum of ten people from any number of households can meet for private gatherings in the period from 23 to 27 December 2020. This includes children up to the age of 14. This is explicitly not intended for the turn of the year.
All adapted regulations can be found in the state government's press release.
