Many elderly people living alone live in the municipality of Rüdersdorf. For some time now, the number of emergency door openings by the volunteer fire brigade has been increasing. This means, for example, that people who have had accidents are in their homes and are sometimes unable to open the door when the emergency services or fire brigade arrive. Unfortunately, even family members living nearby often do not have a key to their home, so that the door cannot be opened. The emergency services are therefore unable to reach the casualty. The firefighters use a variety of methods to gain access to the home to enable the emergency services to treat the casualty. However, this can result in damage to windows or doors.
Please discuss with your family whether a close relative or a good neighbour should be given the key to your home in an emergency. The time it takes for the emergency services and, if necessary, the fire brigade to arrive is relatively short, but in the worst case it could cost the life of the casualty.
Thank you for your help!
