New federal funding rates for efficient buildings (BEG) in force since 29 December 2023

New funding rates for federal funding for efficient buildings (BEG) in force since 29 December 2023 Summary: Federal funding for efficient buildings (BEG) in force since 29 December 2023. Applications are expected to be able to be submitted to KfW from 27 February 2024.

The German Association of Cities has informed the office of the Brandenburg Association of Towns and Municipalities in a circular letter about the entry into force of the new subsidy rates for the federal subsidy for efficient buildings (BEG) as follows:

"... the Federal Subsidy for Efficient Buildings (BEG) was published in the Federal Gazette on 29 December 2023. It is expected that applications can be submitted to the newly responsible KfW from 27 February. To ensure that the heating replacement and investments in the building envelope can still proceed as quickly as possible, the heating replacement can already be commissioned now and funding applications can be submitted later.

The following subsidy rates apply:

  • For switching to a heating system based on renewable energies, there is a 30 per cent basic subsidy plus an efficiency bonus of five per cent for a heat pump or a lump sum of 2,500 euros for low-emission biomass heating systems.
  • Households with an average gross annual income of up to 40,000 euros can apply for a further 30 per cent of the eligible investment costs.
  • In addition, a speed bonus of up to 20 per cent can be claimed until the end of 2028. However, the speed bonus only applies to the replacement of an old, still functional fossil fuel heating system before the end of 2028. The speed bonus decreases by three per cent every two years from 2029.
  • The maximum funding rate is 70 per cent. The eligible investment costs are also capped at 30,000 euros."
