Press release 14/2024 of the district of Märkisch-Oderland from 18/03/2024
Local elections will be held in the state of Brandenburg on 9 June 2024 together with the European elections. At municipal level, representatives will be elected for the Märkisch-Oderland district council, for the town councils and municipal councils in the 45 towns and municipalities belonging to the district, the honorary mayors in the municipalities belonging to the district as well as the local advisory councils and local chairpersons. Election proposals for these elections can be submitted by parties, political associations, voter groups and individual candidates to the district election officer for the district council elections or to the responsible election officers of the towns, municipalities and offices.
If the election proposal holder is obliged to attach supporting signatures to their election proposal in accordance with Section 28a of the Brandenburg Municipal Elections Act (BbgKWahlG), these must be submitted to the respective electoral authority by 4 p.m. on 3 April 2024. Nominations must be submitted to the relevant electoral authority by 12:00 noon on 4 April 2024. This deadline is a cut-off date. Any nomination not received by the deadline must be rejected by the responsible electoral committee in accordance with Section 37 (2) BbgKWahlG.
