Information on rat control

There are repeated indications of the presence of rats in various residential areas of the municipality. Here is some information on this:

The Norway rat has a large radius of action when travelling in search of food and new nesting opportunities. On their way through sewers, rubbish dumps, waste containers in residential areas, but also through stables, composting facilities and other places with organic rotting material, there are numerous opportunities to carry existing pathogens in their fur.
Rats are a serious carrier of salmonella, foot-and-mouth disease and other diseases and they multiply very quickly.
The containment of potential health pests in residential areas is necessary and sensible.

Rats do not have to and should not spread unhindered in the community. Even simple measures can achieve effective results.

  1. Food waste should not be disposed of in the toilet or in open compost, but in a sealable organic waste bin.
  2. In general, do not leave any food or leftover cat or dog food out in the open. (wild feeding places)
  3. Slipways in doors and walls should be closed and junk disposed of. Nesting material also includes scraps of cardboard, paper and insulating materials.
  4. Bin liners do not belong next to the rubbish bin, but in it.
  5. Pets should remain locked up until the risk of rat infestation has been eliminated.
