After a construction period of 18 months (construction began in June 2018), the construction work on the cycle path between Herzfelde and Hennickendorf is nearing completion. Once the cycle path has been extended along Strausberger Straße, it will have a length of approx. 1.400 km. The main problem for the long construction period was the relocation of the media in the area of the new cycle path. A traffic island was created at the entrance to Hennickendorf and a sheet pile wall was built to secure the cycle path by driving steel planks into the ground. The asphalt work is planned for the end of November, followed by the road marking work. Weather permitting, the cycle path should go into operation before the end of the year.
