The municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin congratulates the electro duo Modeselektor on winning the Echo 2012 in the National Critics' Award category.
This was probably the first time that the Musicians' Award went to an artist from Rüdersdorf and an artist from Woltersdorf on 22 March 2012. Sebastian Szary and Gernot Bronsert received the award for their album Monkeytown.
It is their most successful work to date and was named album of the year by UK magazine back in 2011. In the same year, it also reached several top ten positions in readers' polls and editorial charts worldwide. The highlight for the time being, however, was winning the ECHO 2012.
The German Music Award ECHO is one of the biggest awards in the world and has been presented since 1992. Every year, the award honours national and international musicians for their most successful achievements.
