Telekom Deutschland GmbH is currently sending out letters entitled "Free connection of your property to Deutsche Telekom's high-performance fibre-optic network" to households in the municipality. The letter states that Telekom is expanding the fibre-optic network in "cooperation with your municipality".
The municipality of Rüdersdorf bei Berlin does NOT co-operate with Telekom Deutschland GmbH. There is only a cooperation between the municipality and DNS:NET with regard to fibre optic expansion.
It is correct that Telekom Deutschland GmbH provides so-called subsidised fibre optic connections in the district of Märkisch-Oderland. However, the connections are only built in households that are eligible for subsidies - the municipality does NOT have a record and list of eligible connections and can only be requested from the district of Märkisch-Oderland.
Status of DNS:NET expansion
Since summer 2022, DNS:NET has been expanding the fibre optic network on the basis of a cooperation with the municipality. Due to various necessary follow-up work due to poorly sealed footpaths, the company has been asked to carry out follow-up work since December 2022. As soon as the rework has been completed, the work will continue in the coming weeks, the final routes will be drawn and the house connections will be made.

The municipality of Rüdersdorf bei Berlin already tried to coordinate the expansion in 2021/2022 - due to the legal requirements, the liberalisation of the telecommunications market and the various responsibilities, it is not possible to carry out a central expansion with just one provider.
