As every year, the fight against the oak processionary moth will soon begin in the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin.
The preventive spraying in the period from 2 to 4 May 2024 will be carried out on public green spaces, cemeteries, daycare centres, schools and roads in the municipality of Rüdersdorf bei Berlin. Spraying with the insecticide NeemProtect (which is used as a biocide with an insecticidal effect) is carried out from the ground.
Spraying can only be carried out for a limited period depending on the development stage of the oak processionary moth larvae. The application at the cemeteries takes place on:
- from 2 to 4 May 2024 on the streets and parks,
- on 2 and 3 May 2024 at the cemeteries,
- on 4.5.2024 at the hospital car parks in Waldstraße (associated with a closure),
- on 4 May at the "Sperlingshausen" and "Zwergenschloss" daycare centres.
During spraying and for about four hours afterwards, the relevant areas are marked with barrier tape (red and white) and signs.
