Career compass 2019 - The regional career fair shows future paths

The regional training and study fair career compass is entering its second round on 15 and 16 March! The fair celebrated its successful debut in 2018 with over 90 exhibitors and more than 2,000 visitors at the Giebelseehalle in Petershagen/Eggersdorf.
This year, young people and their parents can once again find out about career prospects and training opportunities in the region. The career compass offers the ideal opportunity to make personal contact with representatives from companies, institutions and universities and to ask individual questions, get to know job profiles, analyse your strengths and have your own future prospects in the region pointed out to you. Pupils and applicants are supported through individual discussions, presentations and assessment centres as well as numerous advisory services and application portfolio checks.
To help young people find the right companies and future employers, they can discover and test their strengths at the "Komm auf Tour" stand, receive guidance on this and then approach the exhibiting companies in a targeted manner.
These include BUG Verkehrsbau AG, Harry Brot GmbH, the Federal Police, the Federal Armed Forces, Finetech GmbH & Co KG, Hornbach, Immanuel Klinik Rüdersdorf, Swissbit Germany AG, the Berlin State Police, the German Red Cross and many other interesting exhibitors. The municipalities involved in the project will also be presenting themselves as employers and trainers at the stand of the Metropolitan Region East. Of course, the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the Chamber of Skilled Crafts and the Youth Employment Agency will also once again be offering a wide range of information for visitors.
"This year, various exhibitors will once again be represented at the fair and show that innovative and interesting companies can also be found in our region. We clearly want to show young people their prospects in the region - you don't have to move away to find a great apprenticeship or study place," says Nadja Zivkovic, District Councillor for Economic Affairs in Marzahn-Hellersdorf.
Rainer Schinkel, Alderman and Head of the Economic Office of Märkisch-Oderland is co-initiator of the fair and is convinced that the fair has created an attractive offer for both companies and pupils in the region. "We know that numerous internships and training contracts have been concluded as a result of the last fair. We will therefore be delighted if numerous schools and families take advantage of the offer again."
If young people would also like to gain practical experience, they can carry out job-specific tasks at individual stands and take part in the assessment centre to prepare themselves ideally for recruitment tests.
The regional management, a project funded by federal and state funds (GRW funds) from the Marzahn-Hellersdorf Economic Development Agency, is organising the fair for the second time together with the district and its partner municipalities. Since 2016, the network has been committed to strengthening and networking the economy and has launched numerous initiatives to secure jobs and skilled labour, among other things. With the career compass, which is also supported by LEADER funds, the network presents the largest careers fair in the region.
