Mountain festival in Rüdersdorf with new mountain festival parade!

4 July 2014 to 6 July 2014
In the Museumspark Rüdersdorf!

The Bergfest is the festival with the longest tradition in the state of Brandenburg. Numerous miners from all over Germany dominate the three days of the event at the largest open-air museum - Museumspark Rüdersdorf - right next to the largest active open-cast mine for Triassic limestone in Central Europe.

The miners open the festival on Friday evening in their traditional costumes and lights.
A short programme provides an insight into the history of mining and ends with the Rüdersdorf mountain band playing the taps. Before that, everyone is invited to a big wild boar dinner with the Waldhornklang hunting horn players. Admission is free.

Saturday also offers plenty of variety. In addition to many historical crafts that invite visitors to watch and participate, there will be a colourful children's and stage programme with show fights and mining theatre. Those interested can also purchase one or two pieces of jewellery at the mineral and fossil fair.

The highlight of the day is the show blasting at 2.00 pm in the still active limestone open-cast mine, for which a shuttle service through the open-cast mine is offered. At 12.00 noon there will be a ceremonial inauguration of new drilling machines from Cemex OstZement GmbH. The Heinitz Tunnel can be visited between 14:00-17:00 on both days. The guided tour also includes a video presentation on the use of the waterway and blasting. If that's not enough, you are welcome to watch the parallel spectacle at the chess furnace battery. A martial arts show tournament with the karate world champion "Cynthia Rothrock will be accompanied by a colourful supporting programme.

The entrance fee of 5,- EUR is valid for both events.

Of course, football fans will also get their money's worth if the German team reaches the quarter-finals.

Accordingly, there will be a live broadcast of the game on Friday or Saturday at 6.00 p.m. in the Kurfürstliches Bergschreiberamt at Heinitzstr. 11.
Admission is of course free.

The traditional mountain devotion on Sunday, followed by a large parade with numerous miners and clubs, slowly brings the festival to a close. After a fitting welcome to the parade in the park at around 12.30 pm and a gun salute, the festival slowly draws to a close with a concert by the Rüdersdorf mountain band.
