On 6 October 2022, 9 a.m. - Stumbling stone laying with Gunter Demnig in memory of the Reissner family from Herzfelde

Press release 2022/32 of the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin

On 6 October 2022 at 9 am, the next two Stolpersteine will be laid in the Herzfelde district (Strausberger Straße 1a, 15378 Rüdersdorf near Berlin) - the last freely chosen place of residence of Anna and Moritz Reissner. They ran a textile business here until their forced expropriation by the National Socialists, before fleeing to Shanghai via Berlin.

The Stolpersteine are laid by the inventor of the Stolpersteine, Gunter Demnig, himself. To this day, all Stolpersteine are made by him personally and, where possible, laid by him.

The laying of the Stumbling Stones will be accompanied by a small supporting programme (see attachment).

Special thanks are due at this point to the Stolpersteine Rüdersdorf working group of the Heinitz-Gymnasium Rüdersdorf, which was initiated by Mrs Franke and is actively supported by pupils.

Mayor Sabine Löser explains: "This year, I am delighted to welcome Mr Demnig, the spiritual and artistic father of the Stolpersteine, to our community in person. At the same time, I am particularly grateful to the Stolpersteine Rüdersdorf working group led by Mrs Franke and the pupils of Heinitz-Gymnasium for their regular research and the initiation of further Stolperstein placements. It is important and right "to give the victims back their names" and to remember Jewish life in our community."
