In its warning situation report of 8 January 2026, the German Weather Service warns of considerable amounts of fresh snow from this evening, which could last until Friday with further snowfall. There will also be persistent frost and strong winds in places. It is advisable to avoid unnecessary journeys.

The colleagues at the roadworks centre and the contractors have been working non-stop since Christmas, especially after the heavy snowfall last week. The persistent frost means that the roads with the highest priority have to be kept clear again and again, so that roads with secondary traffic importance cannot be treated comprehensively. In the coming days, the winter road clearance service will continue to be in continuous operation, clearing the roads and paths according to the available resources.
In extreme weather conditions, the municipality's road cleaning regulations also authorise the use of de-icing agents. However, we ask that road salt be used in moderation and only when de-icing agents such as sand and grit are no longer effective.
