The digital photos can be taken by all citizens directly at the Citizens' Service Centre in the town hall for a fee of 6 euros. We have created the technical prerequisites for this.
A paper photo can no longer be accepted from 1 May 2025.
Digital photos can also be taken by photo service providers if they use a corresponding certified system. Once the photo has been taken, a printout with a data matrix code (comparable to a QR code) is issued. This is presented to our citizen service centre and scanned so that the photo can be retrieved in the protected cloud. The passport authority checks whether the transmitted image meets the requirements for a biometric photograph.
