Donations for victims of the flood disaster

We are deeply saddened by the images of the flooding disaster in Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia, as well as Bavaria and Saxony. As early as the weekend, the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin received its first enquiries about how people could help by making donations of goods. Thank you very much for your solidarity and willingness to help.
We are already in discussion with the Hennickendorf branch of the DLRG to determine whether it would be appropriate to organise a collection of donations in kind, in consultation with the local relief workers. Should we decide to collect donations in kind, we will provide further information separately later this week.

Both the volunteers on the ground and the aid organisations themselves point out that cash donations are currently still far more helpful than donations of goods alone, as the first camps are already overcrowded and the relief supplies still need to be transported to the crisis-hit regions.

Donations can be made via the ‘Aktion Deutschland hilft’ website, the German Red Cross and other aid organisations, amongst others.
