Rüdersdorf takes part in CITY CYCLING for the first time

Press release 2021/20 from the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin

From 21 August to 10 September 2021, the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin will be taking part in STADTRADELN for the first time. The aim is to make as many everyday journeys as possible by bike – a climate-friendly alternative to the car – during these three weeks. Every kilometre counts. In STADTRADELN, local authorities compete against one another, as do teams within the local council, to see who can cover the most journeys by bike. You can set up a team with friends, classmates, family, a club or at work, or join an existing team. Small surprises await the team that clock up the most kilometres. The kilometres cycled can be recorded either directly via the app, entered on the STADTRADELN website (https://www.stadtradeln.de/ruedersdorf) or reported by telephone (033638 85 316).

Under the name ‘Die Ra(n)dberliner Verwaltung’, the local authority of Rüdersdorf near Berlin is also actively taking part in STADTRADELN and competing against other teams within the local authority’s area.

Mayor Sabine Löser is calling on people to get involved: “Whatever reason motivates you to take part, you’ll find that your quality of life improves! Some people want to overcome their inner resistance and are just waiting for the right opportunity, whilst others want to save money or spend more time in the fresh air. Cycling is healthy, great fun and good for the environment.
As a mayor who enjoys cycling myself, I urge you: get actively involved and show just how fit our community is as a health-conscious place. We already have a number of safe cycle paths in the local area, but I’m sure we can do even better: keep your eyes open on your rides and let us know where we can make things even more attractive and safer. Let’s get on our bikes – for climate protection and for our own sake. Join in!”
