Press release 2023/11 of the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin
The municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin has been monitoring the flow of traffic itself since 18 April 2023. After a lengthy application process, authorisation was granted by the responsible Ministry of the Interior and Municipal Affairs (MIK) in the first quarter of the year and the team from the fines office has been receiving training on the new measurement technology since the beginning of April.
As things stand at present, a total of 65 alternative mobile measuring points are planned throughout the municipality. Both a trailer and a measuring vehicle are available for the measurements.
In addition, the stationary speed cameras in Ernst-Thälmann-Straße and on the B1/5 in Tasdorf will be reactivated at the beginning of May. The district of Märkisch-Oderland has since dismantled the speed cameras previously installed here.
In future, a stationary speed camera is also to be installed at the Strausberger Straße / corner of the B1/5 in the district of Herzfelde. The municipality is currently in the process of coordinating this with the state road authority, which must first grant authorisation.
In the past, only the district of Märkisch-Oderland and the police were allowed to monitor moving traffic in Rüdersdorf near Berlin. Due to the large number of complaints about noise and speeding vehicles, the municipal council decided to monitor the speed of vehicles itself in future. The aim is to have a much greater presence in the municipality - both at particularly vulnerable points such as in front of kindergartens and schools and in streets with particularly high noise pollution.
