As part of the festivities at Stienitzsee, the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin is organising a guided tour of the construction site on the grounds of the former ‘Stienitzquappe’ fishing club (Hennickendorf district, Ringstraße 11a, 15378 Rüdersdorf near Berlin).
As part of the INTERREG VI A funding project, the site is being comprehensively redeveloped under the project title ‘Via Marchionis’. The former anglers’ clubhouse is being transformed into a modern community pavilion in the form of a contemporary, functional building. In future, this will be available for use for events, meetings and celebrations. As part of the refurbishment, large floor-to-ceiling windows will be fitted and the building, including the roof, will be thoroughly modernised. The sanitary facilities will also be renewed and adapted to their future use.
The outdoor facilities are also set to undergo a comprehensive revamp. In future, visitors will be able to set off onto Lake Stienitz from here in kayaks, stand-up paddleboards and other muscle-powered watercraft. A sun deck, a barbecue area and seating also invite visitors to linger. The refurbishment of the pavilion has already begun. Work on the outdoor facilities will start this autumn.
The first nature trail on the water has already been completed. Along a route featuring 15 stops, visitors can discover interesting facts about the region’s industrial history and natural environment.
The nature trail is available on the ‘Rüdersdorf-bei-Berlin’ app. The app guides users from one stop to the next. At each stop, users can access fascinating information and images or listen to short, informative audio clips. Topics include, for example, the former cement works, the ‘King of the Skies’ and a wealth of other information on industrial history and nature.
The nature trail, which is around eight kilometres long, starts at the Rüdersdorf Museum Park and ends at the former anglers’ clubhouse in Hennickendorf. By the time the overall project is completed, the trail is also set to be available in the opposite direction and in Polish.
