On 18 December 2025, the newly elected mayor, Nico Nolte, was sworn in before the municipal council and received his certificate of appointment. 31 December 2025 marks the official end of Mayor Sabine Löser’s term of office, and she has expressed her gratitude:
At the end of the year, after six successful years in office, I will be handing over the reins at the town hall to my elected successor, Nico Nolte. It is with great gratitude that I look back on our trusting collaboration, the numerous projects that have been completed or initiated, and the tireless commitment of so many residents in our community. I would like to thank the local council and all our partners in business and society for their constructive, sometimes critical, but always respectful cooperation in the interests of our community. From 1 January 2026, Nico Nolte will be mayor of the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin. Shortly before taking office, the future mayor had this to say:
It is with great gratitude and confidence that I look back on the many conversations and encounters of the past few months. The open dialogue, the voluntary commitment and the strong sense of community in our neighbourhoods have shown me just how much potential our local community holds.
Together, we can achieve a great deal: further improve our quality of life, develop our infrastructure to be fit for the future, preserve what has stood the test of time and boldly shape new initiatives. I look forward to embarking on this journey together with you – through open dialogue, with transparency and always staying close to the people.
He outlines the guiding principles of his future work as follows:
It is particularly important to me that we remain transparent at all times and clearly communicate what we, as the administration, are currently working on and how progress is being made on the individual projects. I will not be able to change everything immediately or make everything better from 1 January 2026. However, my clear aim is for us to make clear statements on the many issues and projects within the first six months and to develop a plan setting out how and when we will take which steps. Whether this involves tackling the well-known infrastructure issues with roads and pavements, projects already underway such as the refurbishment of the cultural centre and the two new after-school care centres, the next steps in the digitalisation of the local authority, providing citizens with better information on suitable routes, and much more.
