As in the past, free paper leaf bags will be distributed to all residents who are obliged to remove leaves from their properties under the street cleaning regulations.

From 29 September 2025, the leaf bags will be handed out at the following locations:

• Town hall of the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin, citizens' office;
• Post office in the Hennickendorf district;
• Petrol station in the Herzfelde district;
• Lichtenow parish office (first and third Tuesday of the month from 5-6 pm).

The distribution points at the Rüdersdorf building yard and the Herzfelde community centre will no longer be served.

Only leaves from street trees may be disposed of in the municipality's leaf bags. The leaf bags must not weigh more than 20 kg. The leaf bags will be collected in all districts from 7 October 2025, every Tuesday, after prior notification by telephone to Ms Ludwig on 033638/85 217. The leaf bags must be placed in front of the property by 6 a.m. on the day of disposal.

And where do I put the leaves and garden waste from my property?

Leaves and other garden waste that accumulate on private property must be disposed of in the disposal system organised by the district, unless you can compost it yourself. Please use your green bin or the leaf bags from the Märkisch-Oderland waste disposal company. You can also find further information at: www.entsorgungsbetrieb-mol.de

It is not permitted to dispose of leaves and garden waste from your own property on public roads or areas. Of course, it is also not permitted to place garden waste on unpaved roads in order to level out any unevenness. These areas will turn into mud after the next rainfall at the latest. This form of disposal is illegal and constitutes an offence that can be punished with a fine. Furthermore, this "free disposal" is an additional burden on the municipality's budget.
