From Tuesday, 13 August 2024, two e-cargo bikes will be available to borrow free of charge at the Rüdersdorf Museum Park. Whether for visiting the park itself, for a bike tour through the municipality or in the region, the bikes can be borrowed free of charge by anyone via fLotte Brandenburg(https://www.museumspark.de/flotte) and picked up and returned at the ticket office of the museum park on the day of booking. Two children can be transported in the basket of the bike, as can a week's shopping or other loads of up to 70 kg.
The two Muli bikes were purchased by the municipality of Rüdersdorf bei Berlin as part of the cargo bike funding programme of the state of Brandenburg (State Office for Construction and Transport). By lending out the bikes free of charge, the municipality of Rüdersdorf bei Berlin receives a subsidy of 80 %.
The aim is to reduce local traffic thanks to the cargo bikes and, at the same time, to create an attractive local mobility offer for guests travelling to the municipality by public transport or water. They therefore perfectly complement the existing DRIVE MOL car sharing service in the municipality.
The bikes, which are owned by the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin, will be issued and marketed to users by Museums- und Kultur GmbH Rüdersdorf. Today, Friday, the mayor of the municipality, Sabine Löser, handed over the two e-cargo bikes to the head of the museum park, Stephen Ruebsam.
The museum park had already called for names for the two cargo bikes in advance. A jury decided on the names RedenRad and HeinitzShuttle, representing a local reference to Friedrich Wilhelm von Reden and Friedrich Anton von Heinitz. In stylish black, the bikes thus fit in perfectly with the Hunte river located throughout the district and are a reminder of the local mining tradition.
The HeinitzShuttle and RedenRad thus complement fLotte Brandenburg. Free cargo bikes are now available in over 20 towns and municipalities in Brandenburg between Angermünde and Finsterwalde, all of which can be booked on fLotte Brandenburg(https://flotte-berlin.de/brandenburg/) and are thus making their contribution to the transport transition. The fLotte Brandenburg is a co-operation project of the ADFC and VCD Brandenburg.
