In future, a small enamel sign on selected buildings in the two redevelopment areas will serve as a reminder of the joint effort to renovate important urban buildings.
The small white signs measure just 14.8 x 10.5 centimetres. In the foreground are three stylised houses in the colours black, red and gold as the logo for urban development funding. The three sponsors are depicted underneath: The Federal Ministry of Construction, the Brandenburg Ministry of Infrastructure and the municipality of Rüdersdorf near Berlin with its coat of arms. The three institutions each contributed one third of the urban development funding for over a quarter of a century.
Mayor André Schaller, employees of the building authority, representatives of the redevelopment agency BSG and the managing director of Wohnungsbaugesellschaft Rüdersdorf mbH, Jörn Dahms, inaugurated the first of the small enamel plaques on 10 June 2016. From now on, it will be a reminder of the successful refurbishment of the corner building at Straße der Jugend 10 in 2009-2010. 110,000 euros in funding was provided for the WBG's project.
Over the next few weeks, the signs will be installed on other prominent buildings such as Schulstraße 28 in the Rüdersdorf town centre redevelopment area and the mill at Friedrichstraße 29/30 in the Hennickendorf town centre redevelopment area. After 25 years, the funding for both redevelopment areas is now nearing completion.
