Now that the Friedrich-Wilhelm-von-Reden Library also has to remain closed due to state regulations, a book lock will be set up again from Thursday, 17 December 2020. The idea of the book lock proved its worth during the first lockdown in spring 2020 and offers a simple and unbureaucratic way to borrow books.
After prior ordering by telephone, e-mail or via the pre-order function of the online catalogue, the media packages are put together and deposited in the vestibule of the library's main branch (Straße der Jugend 32, 15662 Rüdersdorf bei Berlin). They can be collected there at an agreed time. There is no contact between the library staff and the reading friends.
At the same time, a simplified new registration for readers is offered, which no longer requires personal attendance. All you need to do is send an e-mail with your contact details to
bibliothek(at)ruedersdorf.de
or call 033638 68 22 3. Once you have successfully registered, you can make use of the extensive range on offer. This includes classic books, DVDs, CDs and games as well as eBooks, which can be used directly from home.
After returning the books, they will be cleaned with a disinfectant solution and returned after 72 hours at the earliest. All media already on loan are automatically renewed, so it is not absolutely necessary to return them during the lockdown. If necessary, books and magazines can be returned after making an appointment or in connection with a collection process via a container provided in the book lock. All other media such as games, audio books, DVDs, Tonies etc. can (as in spring) only be returned after the end of contactless lending, as the immediate check for completeness required for these media cannot be carried out in the presence of the person returning them.
Regardless of this, the library will be closed between 24 and 31 December 2020. The library branch in Hennickendorf will remain closed until further notice.
