Construction work on Waldstraße - from 17 January 2022 only one-way traffic in the direction of Rüdersdorf hospital

Update: The one-way street regulation will not begin until 17 January 2022, the current week is still being used to set up the construction site and test the traffic light control for the ambulances.

After preparatory work for the fundamental renovation of Waldstraße in the Rüdersdorf district has already been carried out in recent months, the first construction phase of the road to the hospital will begin on 10 January 2022.

During the construction work, the rainwater drainage, wastewater pipes and street lighting will be renewed at the same time as the road construction and a fibre optic cable will be laid.

The special location of the road with the adjoining hospital, the Kalksee lake and the lack of parallel or alternative roads makes it necessary that the road can only be used as a one-way street in the direction of Woltersdorf from 17 January 2021 during the entire construction work. Only emergency services and the bus will be able to pass the construction site in the direction of Rüdersdorf thanks to prioritised traffic lights. No other traffic is possible in either direction. There is too great a risk of long queues at the roadworks traffic lights and tailbacks, which would then block the hospital's ambulances in an emergency. Once past the roadworks, motorised vehicles will only be able to return to Rüdersdorf via Woltersdorf.

The first construction phase, starting from Karlstraße to the former forester's lodge (approximately Waldstraße 56/57), is expected to take until March 2023. The remaining section up to the end of Rüdersdorf will then be built in the second construction phase.

Residents will be informed separately by the construction company in the coming days by direct mail.
