Delivery of the "Rüdersdorfer Umschau" including the official gazette

Since January 1998, the official gazette has been published as part of the "Rüdersdorfer Umschau" with a circulation of around 7,400 copies in Rüdersdorf and the neighbouring districts. The "Rüdersdorfer Umschau" is delivered with the BAB LokalAnzeiger to all accessible households, i.e. to over 90 per cent.

Time and again we receive enquiries as to why delivery is not guaranteed in some of the delivery districts for a certain period of time. This is due to various problems. As in any other company, the BAB LokalAnzeiger has an unpredictable level of sickness and holidays. As contracts can only be concluded for 10 months for legal reasons, distribution districts that become vacant have to be filled on a regular basis. Unfortunately, all distribution systems have been finding it increasingly difficult to find employees for these "pocket money jobs" for years (newspaper employment is possible from the age of 13).

As the number of households has increased as a result of rising population figures in Berlin's "bacon belt", the publisher has had to increase the circulation of the BAB LokalAnzeiger year on year (from 55,000 to the current 65,000 copies). However, advertising sales, the only source of funding, have not increased to the same extent. A circulation of around 72,000 newspapers would now be necessary for full coverage.

In order to ensure the distribution of the "Rüdersdorfer Umschau" with around 7,400 copies, the publisher has hired two delivery staff ("Springer") to serve the unoccupied districts in the respective publication week. In addition, in consultation with the municipal administration, the newspapers will be delivered to centralised locations (public institutions or sales outlets) in the districts, which will be announced shortly.

Incidentally, the municipality of Rüdersdorf (and its taxpayers) does not incur any costs for the official gazette, as the usual amount is paid for by the advertising revenue of the advertisers.

In very rare cases (e.g. a 21-year-old woman in Hennickendorf and a 42-year-old woman and her son in Neuenhagen), newspaper carriers deliberately did not distribute for a long time, but collected their remuneration. As we only received complaints very late, the damage in both cases amounted to more than 1,000 euros.
