Forest fire danger level 2 in the district of Märkisch-Oderland
Be considerate!
Brandenburg has a forest area of around 1.1 million hectares (37 per cent of the state's area). In view of the extremely high fire risk, everything that could lead to a fire in the forest and in the fields should be avoided. The smallest spark can trigger a catastrophe. Human activity causes more than 90 per cent of all forest fires with up to 99 per cent of forest fire damage. Lightning is the only "natural" cause of forest fires.
The necessary precautionary measures must be observed at all times. Administrative offences can be punished with a fine of up to 20,000 euros in accordance with the Forest Act (regulation § 23).
- Do not smoke in the forest and in the fields! Do not light fires in and near the forest (minimum distance 50 metres)!
- Do not throw smouldering cigarettes out of the car!
- Please report any fires you notice immediately to the fire brigade (call 112) or the police (call 110).
- Please inform yourself about the current situation before every visit to the forest.
