In memory of the deceased former Chancellor Dr Helmut Kohl, a flag of mourning will be flown throughout Germany on 1 July 2017.
As Federal Chancellor, he governed for the CDU for 16 years - longer than anyone before or after him. He will go down in the history books as the chancellor of German unity and a pioneer of the European Union.
He passed away on 16 June 2017 at the age of 87.
