A look back, a step forward - greetings from the mayor for the new year

Dear citizens,

Another eventful year has come to an end. Many an unexpected challenge suddenly lay before us, demanding our attention and our strength. New tasks, new challenges, new debates - sharper discourse.

Not everything could be solved immediately and we did not create a prestigious project in our municipality this year that was inaugurated with pomp and splendour. But we have taken many small steps that have made our community a little more attractive and liveable in many places:

Another spring clean took place and the planting day gives hope for a colourful spring. Our fire brigade provided quick and reliable assistance in the event of storms, accidents and fires, as well as opening emergency doors, dealing with oil spillages and securing many events. Hiking trails were redesigned, we introduced the Rüdersdorf-bei-Berlin app as a digital showcase, there was a spring reception and the municipality's first bench of honour was awarded. The mountain festival took place again, as did the autumn market in Herzfelde and the festival days at Lake Stienitz. The springs at Kleiner Stienitzsee were renewed, we celebrated the first Brücknick to mark the 10th anniversary of the Peter Lübkes Bridge, the library held various readings and events, and more local life returned to the cultural centre and the museum park. The Digital Angels were on site twice with offers of help for senior citizens, the fibre optic expansion has begun, the water festival took place again, we reactivated the community cup among our four football clubs and repaired the pump at Kleiner Stienitzsee. Together, we left the other municipalities no chance in the town cycling competition and our Colourful Mile, the presentation of trade, industry and club life, was a complete success. Social programmes, such as the lunch table in the Plauderstübchen, were created, children and young people were involved in surveys, play equipment was installed as well as rubbish bins, benches, bicycle stands and bus shelters. A first harvest market invited people to stroll and linger, as did the Christmas markets and festivals in the neighbourhoods.

Although not everything always happens as quickly as we would like, we were able to achieve a lot together. I would like to thank all those who have been actively involved in local life!

For the new year, I hope that you and I will continue to work together every day to make our community that little bit better. Let us focus on what unites us and not on what divides us. Let us work together to find pragmatic and practical solutions for our wishes. Let us also recognise that not every measure can satisfy the needs of every individual to the same extent - let us also allow those who benefit from it to do so.

I would like to invite you to get in touch with me, the local council and the administrative staff and let us know your ideas and suggestions for improvement. You are welcome to do so by e-mail (

I wish you and your loved ones a good and healthy start to the new year
