The rooms of the new meeting place of the BdV Rüdersdorf were well attended on 20 May 2010, when the chairman of the association, Mr Reinhold Bujok, thanked the numerous people present for their support and help.
The provision of the new rooms in Breitscheidstrasse by the housing association, the support in procuring furniture by the municipality, association members and the BdV regional association were all worthy of special mention. However, special thanks went to the young helpers from the CJD Rüdersdorf. It was they who, under the experienced guidance of Meinhard König, were always on hand to help when it came to transporting furniture and setting it up properly or attaching the gallery rails.
This new domicile will not only be used as a repository for our members' local memories, but will also serve as a cultural meeting place for our community. Mr Siegfried Kuhnke, a former miner in Rüdersdorf, offered us photos of his amber finds from the Rüdersdorf open-cast mine for an exhibition. This enabled us to organise a representative exhibition for the first time and at the same time invite sponsors and friends to the new meeting place to thank them in a dignified setting.
Mr Kuhnke will be present at Breischeidstrasse 60 on 14 June 2010 from 2.30 p.m. as part of the Senior Citizens' Week and will also be showing the "Rüdersdorfer Bernsteine".
