Apple juice from the orchard - harvest campaign in Rüdersdorf!

For the first time, there will be a harvesting event at the 50Hertz-Entdecker-Wiese in Tasdorf as part of this year's Rüdersdorf Health Days. On Saturday, 8 September 2018, we will be harvesting apples on the orchard meadow from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm and pressing them into juice directly on site.

What is the 50Hertz discovery meadow?

50Hertz, the transmission system operator in northern and eastern Germany, created the orchard meadow in Tasdorf ten years ago as a so-called compensation area for interventions in nature. Since 2015, it has been used as a discovery meadow for environmental education together with mundraub. Many primary school pupils from Rüdersdorf and Tasdorf have already experienced an orchard day, where the children learn about the interplay between insects, small animals and crop growth. Adults learnt more about the correct way to prune fruit trees. The meadow has thus become a place of learning and discovery. All of the activities are organised for the benefit of the community and the region.

The harvesting campaign is organised and carried out by Terra Concordia (mundraub) in cooperation with the municipality of Rüdersdorf. Work equipment and bottles for bottling juice are provided by the organisers.

What is theft by mouth?

Mundraub.org connects people with fruit trees and through fruit trees. The platform creates an awareness of edible landscapes, regionality and seasonality and motivates people to recognise and use existing resources.

We invite young and old to pick and juice together.

We look forward to your visit!
