Rüdersdorf history
The founding of the village of Rüdersdorf between 1235 and 1250 can be traced back to its huge limestone deposits, which still form an important part of the village's history and development to this day. The monks of the Cistercian monastery of Zinna, on whose initiative the foundation of "Roderstorp" - as Rüdersdorf was called at the time - was founded, already knew how to utilise the valuable rock. Rüdersdorf was first mentioned in documents in 1308.

After the terrible years of the Thirty Years' War and despite the French occupation under Napoleon, Rüdersdorf developed into a community that provided an early home for several hundred working-class families. An important testimony to the upswing in Rüdersdorf is the annual Bergfest, which has been held since 1841 to commemorate the visit of King Frederick William IV. It is traditionally celebrated to this day on the first weekend of each month with a magnificent festival.

3rd question: In which month does the annual mountain festival take place?
